How many people are needed?
If you are an experienced in concrete pours then you probably don’t need help. We do recommend that you have people helping you so your concrete pour can go as smoothly as possible. Ideally, you would have one person responsible for picking up, operating and dropping off the cart back to our yard.
What kind of vehicle do I need for pulling the cart?
You will require at least a 1/2 ton vehicle for towing the cart. We do advise that you always check the maximum towing capacity on your hitch. Some of the newer 1/2 tonne trucks can pull a 2 yard load with trailer (10,800 lbs). But typically, you would need a 3/4 tonne or bigger for the larger loads. Please call us if you have any doubts.
What kind of hitch do I need for towing the cart?
Nothing! We supply a pintle hitch that slides into your receiver, free of charge.
What is the capacity of the carts?
Our Cart-Away carts hold a minimum of 1/4 yards to a maximum of 2 yards or 1 1/2 meters for pickup. You can purchase in 1/4 yard increments from 1/4 of a yard to 2 yards.
We can deliver up to 3 1/2 yards.
How much does the cart/concrete weigh?
The cart weighs approximately 2,800 lbs. Each 1/4 yard of concrete is 1,000 lb. So 1 yard in a cart is 6,800 lbs.
How long do I have the cart for and is there enough fuel?
1-4 hours at $25 per hour then $50 per hour after 4 hours. The trailers are usually good for 2 hours of fuel. If you think you are going to be be longer, make sure you have fuel with you or we can supply you with extra fuel at no charge.
Does the cart need to be cleaned after pouring?
Yes, as part of the rental contract, we require the cart to be rinsed out once the concrete is removed and poured. You will need to rinse it inside and out with the on board water pressure sprayer. The water/concrete can be left in the rotating drum to bring back for U-POR-IT to dispose of.
How much time do I have before I have to pour the concrete?
We highly recommend that you get the concrete out as soon as you can, especially if it is hot outside. You will usually have 2-3 hours to place and finish.
How do I get the concrete out of the cart?
We have a video on cart operation and when you pick up your concrete. We will go through the simple steps of using the cart.
Do you have rental tools?
You can view a full list of our rental tools on our Pricing page. We also sell washed rock and sand, crushed gravel and rebar.
What if I have leftover concrete?
If you do have extra concrete, it can be returned to our yard at no extra charge. Just rinse the drum – keep the water/concrete turning in the drum, head back to our yard. If your measurements are correct, the batch plant will mix the quantities very accurately, but we suggest adding 5-10% extra to your quantity for error.
What is the process for renting a cart?
The first and most important part is to read, fill out and sign our Rental Contract Form at the office. You will also be required to produce valid vehicle insurance and a valid driver’s license.
We can take payments in the form of debit, cash, Visa or Mastercard.

Do I have to reserve my cart in advance?
We highly recommend that you call us a few days in advance to reserve your cart for the day and time that you need. We also offer same day rental upon cart availability. You can call us for free same day rental if needed as we have 9 trailers available.
Do you rent out carts outside of your regular business hours?
Yes we can accommodate most hours if we are given enough notice and you will be responsible for ensuring the cart is thoroughly cleaned.
Carts will need to returned the next day early in the morning. You will be charged additional fees ($500 or more) if you did not clean it out thoroughly. Call us to discuss the times you are looking to book as the hours may vary during peak season.
What type and strength of concrete do you supply?
We offer concrete strengths of 20 MPa / 25 MPa / 32 MPa.
Our concrete is made in our yard using Type 50 Cement Powder, which is also known as Sulphate Resistant.
Do you have colored concrete?
If you are needing colored concrete you will have to buy the coloring from one of the concrete supply stores (Unicon, Northland). You then bring it with you when you pick up your concrete and we can add the coloring to the concrete as we are mixing up your batch so it is fully mixed when you get to your job.
It is very important that your fully rinse the inside and outside of the trailer and drum as the coloring will stain the trailer and color the next batch of concrete.
Are there any reasons why U-POR-IT Cart-Away Concrete is not recommended?
Distance:
You may be too far away from our yard. We have found that the further you are outside our suggested delivery area the more likely you will have problems.

Acceptable Towing Vehicle:
Your vehicle may not be able to tow our trailer properly. Consider using our delivery service to avoid any issues.

Do you offer a delivery service?
Yes! You will need to book this with us. A day or two advance notice is recommended. Sometimes we can do some last minute deliveries. Charges for deliveries are $150 if is doesn’t exceed 2 hours. If so, it is an additional $75 per hour. This service is based on distance traveled from our yard and what’s involved once we arrive. Our delivery service also includes one person to operate the concrete trailer and clean up the cart.
